Admittedly the etiquette book he'd read was about ten years old, but surely she couldn't be suggesting that on the first date. Had what was considered appropriate changed so much in the past decade?

He felt somewhat at sea here, but she clearly expected him to respond in some way, and he did not want to disappoint her.

The Doctor couldn't resist teasing her some more, so he said, "Ah yes, tennis, and chess and even having a conversation is much more interesting when you're not talking to yourself. Or did you have something else in mind?"
