[Milliways] OOM: John's Room, Milliways

It's evening by the time Sarah Jane bothers to leave the flat. As much as she wants to spend every moment with James - with her fiancee - right now, she needs to tell someone. She needs to tell so that she can hear the words outloud again and remind herself that this isn't a dream.

And as much as she wants to tell the Doctor, she doesn't know how yet. So Sarah Jane settles for the second best option: John Crichton.

Wary of the last time she had entered his room unannounced, Sarah knocks loudly on the door to his and Aeryn's room. She waits impatiently for a response, hoping that someone is in.

It's evening, yeah. John...was tired and had been sleeping most of the day.

So when he answered, he was disheveled from sleep, had an undershirt on and a pair of sleep pants. "Nngh?"

Normally, she'd tease him. But having spent a good portion of the day sleeping in James' arms after spending a good portion of the night celebrating, Sarah Jane doesn't.

Instead, she throws himself in to his arms and hugs him tightly.

"Ahh!" He stumbled backwards, into the room a little before throwing a glance into the reeeally messy room and the sleeping Aeryn in his bed and quickly swung them back outside and shut the door. "Hey you. What's up?"

She laughs when they're outside in the hall again, taking a step back and beaming at John.

Sarah Jane still can't stop smiling. "James asked me to marry him last night."

John blinked and ran a hand through his hair. "Re-really?" His voice sounded a little high pitched and he tried not to say 'already?!'.

"That's great! Congrats, Sarah!"

"I'm getting married, John. Oh, I'm getting married!"

Sarah laughs as her eyes sparkle with joy. It's soon and probably too impulsive but she doesn't care. Saying it outloud to someone has brought back all the happiness from the other night. It makes it real.

"I never thought this would happen."

John leapt forward and kissed her on the forehead quickly. "I'm so happy for you."

"I'm getting married," she whispers again, and it's clear that the new reality hasn't fully sunk in.

Sarah looks up at him, happy tears in her eyes. "You better come back for this, you know. I can't think of anyone else I'd rather want as my maid of honour."

"Of course I--whut." John stepped back, giving her a slightly bitch plz sort of look.

She giggles, smile turning mischivous. "I think you'd look absolutely pretty in pink, John."

"No, I love you Sarah, but no. Thanks though."

"Are you sure?" she teases, giggling more. "I bet you Aeryn would just about love to see you in a dress. With pink ruffles and everything."

"I'm going to lock you in my closet if you don't stop."

"I don't think my fiancee," and she giggles when she says that word, "would appreciate that very much."

He rolled his eyes. "We'd wake Aeryn up and I'd get shot, so it's best that we don't."

"Mmhmm," she murmurs, quickly kissing him on the cheek before looking back down the hall. More than anything, she wants to get back to James. "Anyway, well, I just wanted you to be the first to know."

"Thanks, Sarah." John smiled at her, rubbing his eye. "Means a lot."

"Of course." Sarah smiles warmly. "I'm going to go find James now. I'll see you soon, all right?"

John nodded, moving back into his room. "Bye Sarah."

"Bye John," she answers, giving him one more quick kiss on the cheek before darting down the hallway.

That done, she's rather content to steal James from whatever he's up to and spend yet another night content in his arms.
