So, it's been some time since I've actually posted in here. But I heard the news from yesterday a few hours ago, having just gotten back from a holiday, and -- I just couldn't let it go without saying something.

Because Sarah Jane Smith was the first muse I played who really *came alive* for me. Sure, I had Jaina from Star Wars and I did amazing things with her. But Jaina's life was all scripted. Sarah's -- there were so many cracks to fill in. So much life and adventure I could invent based on Elisabeth Sladen's amazing performance. And I adored it.

To the point where, in the recent weeks, I had been thinking of playing Sarah again and bringing her to Paradisa. That's been a slow process in itself - given that I've needed to rewatch canon. And rewatching just rekindled my love for this companion. Sladen brought to life such an amazing character. She was a role model to many, myself included. The reason I started watching the original Doctor Who episodes. The costume I would make sure to do every year at Dragon*Con.

I think this cartoon says best what I feel right now. I never got a chance to meet Elisabeth Sladen, but in some ways, she still affected my life given her dedication to Doctor Who.

Rest in peace, Elisabeth Sladen. You will be missed.

Purpose:
Covering any and all pertinent news seen and not seen through the network. Also, advertising for local business and providing editorials and wanted ads when appropriate. Everything you would expect to see in a small town newspaper.

Also a member of Inara's Chamber of Commerce.

Distribution:
Once a week (Sunday) at main office and any stores willing to buy.

Sarah Jane Smith: Editor-in-chief, founder. Really wants to start writing more but has been too preoccupied doing every job not taken to keep the paper afloat.

D'anna Biers: Journalist. More freelance than anything.

Carly Nagisa: Journalist.

Hoban "Wash" Washburn: General assistant, occasional writer and the person who leaves plastic dinosaurs all over the desks in the office. Someone Sarah considers almost a co-founder with everything he's done.

Death: Photographer.

Malcom Reynolds: Manager for distribution. Also Sarah's representation on the Chamber of Commerce.

Kyoya Ohtori: Part time, finances.

Rory Gilmore: Part time, journalist.

NPC Staff
All nameless islanders who do things like run the printing press. And possibly a couple journalists/editors/etc?

I'm back. Sort of.

On the plus side, after two weeks of being sick, I found out that I had appendicitis last Saturday. On the down side, that meant surgery and hospitalization until yesterday. I'm home now but things are probably still going to be pretty slow with me till the next week or so.

Thanks for putting up.

Make up a title for a story I didn't write, and I will respond with details of those non-written stories. You may if you like include details, such as pairings or fandom or whatnot.

From here:

She hadn't meant for it to happen. James had been growing more and more distant ever since his last mission. And rather than making any snide remarks, Le Chiffre actually seemed to sympathize. One thing led to another, as these sorts of events typically go, and Sarah Jane found herself finally forgiving her one time torturer.

Twelve months later and everything had returned to normal at the Smith-Bond home. Valerie was walking, getting in to everything she possibly could. James had apologised months ago for his behaviour, admitting to a kill he had been haunted by. The arrival of his son had only reaffirmed their marriage.

Andrew Nigel Bond didn't necessarily look a lot like his father, but the moment James held him, he was lost in fatherhood happiness all over again.

Sarah tried to go back to Milliways once, three months after Andrew's birth. She knew the truth, one secret she would always keep from James. But Le Chiffre wasn't there.

She wondered if he'd ever know.

So. Hi!

I live! I survived Singapore (which was amazing) and travelling halfway around the world and all of that.

Alas, my computer did not. Despite the fact it had been left at home for the trip. So, in a nutshell? I am way more scatterbrained than I intended to be coming back.

On the plus side, I'm not graduating until August, so that stress has died down.

Did I miss anything exciting while gone?

As I am in Singapore for the next two weeks and also have a lot of stuff for my thesis due, too, this journal is going on hiatus until April 5.

Sarah Jane will miss interacting with ya'll lots.

Lines.

She had never been good at queuing, especially as a child. Impatience had always gotten the better of Sarah Jane. She’d want to see around the corner if the line was particularly long. She’d want to be out of the store minutes before Aunt Lavinia actually reached the till lady to pay for the groceries. And perhaps, worst of all had been the queue to board the school bus when going away on class trips; she always wanted the window seat and spent most of that line worrying she might not get one.

But no line in Sarah’s years had ever been more nerve wracking than the one she currently waited on. If everything went her way, this investigation was to be her big break. A step away of writing articles on Women’s Lib for the Metropolitan and a step towards investigative journalism and more pertinent articles. Who’d have thought volunteering to house sit her aunt’s home on Bannerman Road during the other woman’s tour of American universities would lead to such an opportunity?

The nerves she forced down seemed endless. Pushing a strand of hair out of her face, she checked the documents again. She had the letter in hand, the one UNIT had sent requesting Dr Lavinia Smith’s presence at a safe house until they put an end to the rash of missing scientists. She had one of her aunt’s old IDs, where the photograph was faded enough to resemble Sarah and the birth date scratched enough to manipulate it into a more reasonable year.

There wasn’t much more needed, she had figured before leaving for the institution. However, the long wait (for only three bloody people) made her think otherwise. What could be taking so learn? Had she not brought enough documents, enough proof of being Lavinia Smith?

A soldier (lieutenant by the look of things) glanced in Sarah Jane’s direction, knocking the woman out of her reverie. She smiled and waved back, perhaps looking a little flirtatious. The man came over and nodded, taking off his beret before offering a hand.

“Doctor Sullivan at your service, ma’am,” he spoke as she shook his hand gingerly. “It’s the longest queue I’ve seen since we started this round up. Sorry about that.”

Sarah laughed. “Has this been going on for long?”

“Only a couple of days, since Britain’s top minds started to disappear. But rest assure, miss, we’ll find who’s in char-” He stopped talking, eyes looking beyond her to the front of the queue. “Looks like you’re up. Again, sorry about that wait. I’ll see you inside, eh, Miss-”

“Smith,” she answered, slipping in to what Sarah Jane considered the greatest acting role of her life. “Doctor Lavinia Smith.”

He tipped his cap at her again. Sarah was about to respond before another (less polite) soldier snapped something about absent minded scientists. She turned around to face this man with a scowl but quickly pushed it aside. She’d have to hold her temper if she was going to succeed in her investigation.

“Right,” she responded instead, shoving the documents into the man’s face. At the very least, she could be slightly temperamental. Didn’t these soldier types expect that from brains, after all? He gave her a look that she ignored, smiling pleasantly instead and babbling on about how she hoped not to have to say wrong given the important research she had been conducting back at UCL.

Time to get off the line.

So, here's the thing. I leave on a ten plus hour train ride Saturday to get home. Which, while I'll have internet on my phone, will still be as frustrating as hell (especially because typing on phone isn't fun).

If you comment here with a character (it can be yours), prompt, and rating, I will write you a 100 word fic in return.

:D?

Long story short: straw that broke the camels back which resulted in the camel thinking she was just a burden on everyone and everything and shouldn't be around.

(aka this)

I really, really, really am sorry for any worry/anger/misconceptions/hurt that I may have caused. Really.

I know I have logs going on with a number of you right now. I've been flakey the past week and I don't know if I'm going to get better any time soon. I have two papers due this week and a constantly crashing and work deleting computer to contend with. Then there are finals and trying to figure out a way to get home and a fish sitter and yeah.

On top of all of that, my depressions is acting up again and I'll get into fits of wanting to/not wanting to do things or convincing myself that I'm awful at everything I do and unnecessary and I'm better off deleting RP journals or disappearing from the face of the planet or what not.

So, yeah. If I don't answer to something, that's why.

So there's this love meme thing going around, eh? And as much as I'd love to go and respond to each and every one of you on there, the prospect kind of daunts me right now with all the schoolwork and stuff piling up.

So, instead, I kind of want to leave you with this:

All of you on Sarah and [livejournal.com profile] jen_anomaly's Flist? I love you guys. I love RP'ing with you and reading your work and coming up with zany situations for our pups to deal with. It's been a blast, more than a blast, and I look forward to continuing.

It's been over two years now since I made this journal (apparently it was October 14, 2006) and I'm still enjoying playing Sarah and interacting with all of you. So thank you for a brilliant two years and, I'm hoping, for more.

You can now go about your daily business.
