Sarah Jane Smith certainly is not a man!

Simon's gifts are delivered to him by hand, placed in front of him on the table top he sits by in Milliways. There are two carefully wrapped packages. The first is a fancy pen to go with the journal she had gotten him last time. The second is something more personal: a collection of photographs she had taken of him when not looking.

They include photographs of him alone, of the two together (thanks to Mr Smith), with Luke... Each is labeled with a memory, be it happy or sad. In the front of the album is a message:

I think this is why you got a second chance. Happy Christmas. Love, Sarah.

As it's their first Christmas together, there are a few gifts underneath the small fake tree in the reception room. There are basic gifts: a fuzzy red robe in one wrapped box, a photo album with a few photographs already in there, and a couple of novels off of the Times bestseller list.

The main gift, though, is a thin, hand-bound, hardcover book. The container it's in and the wrapping isn't any different from the other gifts. The title of it is "A Spy's Life". If he starts reading it, he'll see that it's full of Sarah Jane's musing on his life - based entirely on what she knows of James the person rather than James the fictional character.

The very last paragraph reads as such:

A spy's life is supposed to be lonely. They learn not to trust the world. Anyone could easily be a plant meant to betray him. When a spy does let someone into his life, it becomes a bigger deal than anyone could possibly comprehend. It is not an easy road at all. He still possesses his innate mistrust and suspicion that rears its head time to time. Despite this, a spy is just like any person. He deserves to have the sort of life everyone else is entitled to: one of love.

Inside is a certain toy. And something more useful: a framed photo of the two of them by the Thames.
