[Milliways] OOM: Flat 007

Everything looks set to Sarah Jane as she stands in the living room of her Milliways flat. An old blanket has been spread across the floor in front of her. On it rests a small box (turned upside down as a makeshift table) and a collection of various arts and crafts supply that she purchased from Bar a few days ago. It's not hard to miss all the crayons or markers or stickers or glitter or glue or paper. Not too far away in the kitchen is a pitcher of milk and some chocolate chip cookies - the cookies also Bar provided.

This should be everything, she thinks to herself for the umpteenth time, also vaguely wondering why she's gone to all this effort in the first place. Sarah has never been fond of children, but something about this girl has seemed to charm her. Now, all she needs is for Allana to show up. Hopefully, she would have received the note left with Bar and found her way here.

Sure Allana recieved the note. Only it was in English and she can't read in the first place. But she knows that the only person she was supposed to hear anything from was Ms. Sawah, and she remembers the number of her flat.

Double-oh-seven. What a strange number. But Allana didn't care, she just made her way up the stairs and wandered around for a while, really glad that today she wore pants instead of a skirt.

Finally she made it, and she stared up at the numbers, before reaching her hand up and knocking.

In her head, she's making a list of people she wants to invite.

As previously stated, Sarah was never quite that good with children. Which includes forgetting that they don't necessarily know how to read.

At the sound of a knock on the door, she gets up from the couch and walks over. It's bolted whenever she's alone in the flat, simply as protection from Le Chiffre. But the door is opened quickly enough and Sarah smiles when she sees Allana standing in front of her.

"Well, good afternoon to you, Miss Allana." She nods towards the living room behind her. "You're just in time. I finished setting everything up a few minutes ago."

"Yay!" She beams up at Sarah, before leaning forward and hugging her 'round the knees (it's as far as she can reach after all). "I have a list in my head of who I want to invite. S'not a lot a lot."

Sarah bends downward to pick Allana up and give her a proper hug. After placing her back down on the floor, she reaches out a hand to hold Allana's.

"That's wonderful. We ought to make a list before starting on the invitations anyway. I have milk and biscuits just for the occasion." Or biscuits and tea in Sarah's case. "Would you like to do that now, or do you want a brief tour of the flat first?"

Allana sticks her thumb in her mouth for a moment as she thinks, before pulling it out with a pop. "A tour would be nice."

She grins happily up at Sarah.

"Okay," she replies with a nod.

"Well, as you can probably see, we're in the living room right now. Behind that counter over there is a kitchen and dining area. Then there are two rooms: the one I share with James and a guest room. There's also a couple of loos about here too, in case you need one."

As Sarah explains the flat layout to Allana, she walks towards the guest room. It once belonged to Vesper, but that seems almost like years ago. She opens the door to let Allana peak inside. It's a simply furnished room, with a bed and wardrobe and small closet. But it's a room that has clearly been in disuse over the past couple of months.

Allana nods as they move around the flat, and it's bigger than Allana would have expected. 'Course s'not as big as the palace, but still.

"S'very nice, Miss Sawah." Allana nods once more.

"Thank you," Sarah replies with a sincere smile as she moves to the next room.

The door opens to another bedroom, roughly the same size as the last one. There's a still opened door leading off to a bathroom, and not all clothing is put away yet. The furnishing is similar enough but the colours in this room are brighter and more inviting. There are a couple of photo frames and books scattered about the place, as well as a typewriter on the desk.

"And this would be the mine and James' room."

Allana smiles at this room. It's a lived in room. It reminds her of her mother's slightly.

Only Tenel Ka's is huge, with lots of balconies and open windows. And mirrors. Hapans love mirrors.

But the pictures and the clothes. The lived-in style. That makes it feel like a home. "I like this room the best."

"Me too," she replies quietly. "I have a lot of very fond memories of this room. Although it always feels far too big whenever James is back in London."

For a second she wonders if he feels the same way about the room when she's off travelling with the Doctor. But it's not something to discuss with a four year old who has already declared herself too young to fall in love.

"You can go inside if you'd like."

She toddles in, and looks at the pictures, smiling slightly.

Then she reaches out and pats the bed. Just touching the fabric. Everything needs to be touched when you're four.

Sarah Jane picks up one of the frames, smiling at the photograph. It's one of her and James while out in London on a date. The photo, for the mun's convenience, somewhat resembles the icon above. She walks over to Allana, holding the photo down so she can see it.

"That would be James, my boyfriend."

"He's vewy handsome." Allana tells her seriously. And he is. They'd both be welcome on Hapes.

*ugly people need not apply.

"He is," she answers fondly. "I'm very lucky to have him."

Despite all of the uncertainties and strangenesses of the relationship, she wouldn't trade any bit. She loves him too much. It shows in her eyes.

Allana turns a little pinkish at the look on Sarah's face and her words. "Is he coming to the tea party?"

"I certainly hope so. Even if I have to drag him to it."

At the very least, he'll be getting an invitation. Sarah Jane doesn't want to deal with a James-sans-invitation.

"Cool." She nods. "I'm gonna invite Miss Shalla, Kick, Miss Plourr...an' Mister Death. Maybe Mister Will or Miss Sariel too."

Sarah nods, leading Allana out of her room and towards the kitchen. There, she helps her on to one of the chairs and pushes the plate of biscuits towards her. Sarah pours each of them a glass of milk (feeling a little too lazy to make tea at the moment) and begins to write down Allana's list.

"If this is the same Will we're talking about, I believe I know him. Mister Death as well." She pauses, tapping the pen on the table as she thinks it over. "Well, aside from James, I was thinking of a boy I know, Santi. He's a bit older than you, but a very nice child. And then there's the Doctor, Sam, John, and Barbara. All very lovely people. Anyone else, Allana?"

"Uhhhm. Maybe we should make a few extwa invitations in case I meet someone else that I weally want to come." Just in case.

Because Allana is a little social butterfly!

Sarah laughs. "I think we can manage that."

"And we have to wear hats! Pwetty ones." She nods.

This is very important.

Well then. It has to be taken in all due consideration.

"Do you want the guests to bring their own or are we going to provide them?"

"Hmm. We can pwovide some if needed, maybe." She says, very Grown Up Like. "But twy to bwing their own."

Sarah nods, jolting this down into her notebook. "Anything else to add, Miss Allana?"
